Curved Utensils

I am searching for the 'perfect' set of utensils for Logen. We've tried the weighted fork/spoon- but I think he needs something with an angle. The children's sets I have found are all plastic which concerns me b/c Logen prefers to eat with a metal fork at home. He will actually go to the silverware drawer and get a metal fork if we give him a plastic one. We want him to be successful at eating on his own, so finding silverware he can use is very important.
Has anybody used these? What did you think about them? Are there any out there that you suggest?

  3. Hey Jess,
We have curved silverware...and when I say "silverware", that's what I mean! They're great! I'll try to remember to take a pic, but essentially it's your "normal" silverware until about 3/4 of the way up the handle, where it turns into a thick rubber-type handle (easy to grip). You can bend the utensil all sorts of ways. They're really cool. The ones Ellie uses (admittedly, not very often, but that's our own issues, not because of the silverware) are adult-sized, cuz our OT couldn't find them in kiddie-size. But, she holds them fine. Our OT picked them up at a sports rehab store. I guess they're good for athletes who've had arm injuries/are using a cast, etc. Maybe you have such a store close by? Let me know if you need more info...we see our OT next week and IF I REMEMBER, I'll ask her!
